Hazard Identification and Physical Parameters Measurement in Dental Laboratories

Substances such as dental materials routinely used in procedures acrylate compounds, organic solvents, disinfectants can spread into air within the working environment and affect indoor quality (IAQ). This study aimed to identify hazards at laboratories measure physical parameters of IAQ particulate matter (PM), temperature humidity. Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment Control (HIRARC) analysis was conducted during walk through survey, then area monitoring PM10, PM2.5, humidity using particle counter for eight hours each laboratories: Prostethic Lab, Orthodontic Maxillofacial Plaster Room, Teaching Lab 1 2. The concentration PM10 PM2.5 were below acceptable level laboratory except (205.8 μg/m3 2018 163.0 2020) which above 150 referred Industry Code Practice on Indoor Air Quality 2010 by Department Occupational Health Safety, Malaysia. It is important assess HIRARC determine ensure safety health workers are guaranteed. Hence continuous training should be prevention control measures efficient.
